![]() Pipe rosettes around the edge of the cheesecake (like pictured) and add a fresh cherry to each. In a separate bowl, whip together the 180g Cream Cheese, 100ml cream, icing sugar and vanilla until thickened. The whipped cream will loose volume as it sits, so if you’re looking for a more stable frosting, I suggest a cream cheese or buttercream. Pour the mix on to the biscuit base and smooth over. And should be stored in the fridge until you plan on serving. Due to the nature of whipped cream, this cake is best served within an hour of making it.Step 5: Spoon remaining cherry pie filling over cookies. Step 4: Arrange remaining Oreos over pudding. Step 2: Dollop cherry pie filling over cookies. You’ll beat the cream until stiff peaks form, adding a 1/2 cup of powdered sugar at a time. Step 1: Arrange half of the Oreos in the bottom of a baking dish. To make the whipped cream, you’ll need a stand mixer fitted with a whisk attachment or a large bowl and a handheld electric mixer. It’s not too sweet and really lets the chocolate and cherry flavors shine! Unlike most layer cakes that use a buttercream or cream cheese frosting, this cake is topped with a light and airy whipped cream. The brand I use is Schladerer schwarzwalder. Kirsch is a cherry liqueur that’s made of cherry juice, cane sugar, and brandy.I strongly suggest using fresh cherries for the decorating! If you can’t find them, simply leave them off. Using frozen will also save you time since they’re almost always already pitted. Fresh OR frozen cherries will work for the filling. But sour cherries will work if you’re able to find them! I don’t suggest using maraschino cherries. I used regular red cherries because they’re widely available. This will ensure your cakes pop out the pan with ease! Spray your cake pans generously with nonstick spray, then line the bottoms with rounds of parchment paper.Be sure your baking powder and baking soda are both fresh, otherwise your cakes could come out flat or with an “off” taste. Then use a spoon to lightly scoop them into the measuring cup, and level off with the flat edge of a knife. If you don’t weigh them, be sure to fluff them up in their bag or container before measuring.Adding too much of either of these ingredients will cause your cake to be dry! I highly suggest using a digital scale to weight your ingredients! Especially the dry ingredients like flour and cocoa powder.I mean, how beautiful is this black forest cake?! Beautiful, delicious, and surprisingly easy, this cake is sure to be the star of your dessert table!Ī few months ago I ordered a slice of Black Forest cake from the bakery and it was… AWFUL! What appliances do you use on a daily basis and don’t want to live without? How often do you charge your laptop or cell phone? While planning your system set up keep track of what and how often/long you are using different electrical items. Whether you’re planning to go full time or shorter trips, you’re likely going to want to do most of the same things you are doing right now, in your rig. Regardless of if you go the solar route or the generator route it’s important to consider your overall electrical consumption before you head out boondocking. We do not use the generator as our power source, but instead top off draining batteries when the weather has been rotten for over a week or if we’re parked in a low sun exposure area. When we moved into the Airstream we found that it was the perfect size for us and works great a quickly recharging our batteries. Ultimately, we did not end up needing it and it sat in the truck for months. We bought our generator out of need over a year ago while running from wildfires in California. Having a backup solution or maybe for you this is the best solution is a generator that works with your rig. While we have a great solar set up, mother nature isn’t always up for cooperating. If you’re interested in our full solar set up we wrote a whole blog post just about it here > We opted for to install a pretty robust solar set up so we could work and play without worry of running out. ![]() In order for us to be able to live and boondocks full time in our Airstream we knew we’d have t have a solution for power regeneration. Its usually crowded and noisy and generally have little to no view or scenery. While having endless electric, water, and sewer is nice, we don’t love RV parks. We knew pretty early on that we want to boondock most of the time. ![]() We’ve found that hoping for the best and being okay with an alternative has made us much happier!! We always find something we like and if we can’t we can always move on to a new boondocking location! Sometimes we see a picture of the location on line and get so excited to arrive only to find that the view exists from only a single spot and its occupied. Have realistic exceptions for a boondocking location. If you find a better spot then you can move, but most often we find ourselves content with the spot we found. Get the situation and then scout further. There is always a temptation to drive further up the road for the “best spot”, but I promise nothing is worse than needing to return to the original spot you found only to find someone has come in behind you and taken it already. Take the first site you come to in a boondocking location. Having a plan B can save you a lot of time and stress on travel days. With boondocking and RV becoming more and more popular, often the most popular sites may be full when you arrive. Have a plan B on where you will go if there is no spots available when you arrive at a boondocking spot. Knowing ahead of time how you will get out is really important because the last thing you will want to be doing in that stressful situation is also figuring out how to get out. Weather conditions can cause you to need to leave quickly and can sometimes block the way you came in. In all cases we always walk the campsite itself before turning into to be sure we have a plan of where we are going and how we will maneuver within in! No one wants to hit a tree trying to get level!Īlways have a plan on how you will evacuate on area that is separate to how you entered if possible. For us, because we tow and do not have a second vehicle, it can be challenging for us to do this, but when possible we will walk the road ahead of turning down. If possible scout the road ahead of taking your rig down it. ![]() This gives us the ability to see the condition of the road, helps us map out a route to leave if there are no spots available and also helps us better understand site conditions which is critical for us since we rely on solar for our power needs. We utilize Google maps satellite function to help us better understand the road we will be traveling before we arrive. ![]() These apps give the you the ability to search a location, read reviews from fellow travelers about space, road conditions, and in our case, most importantly cell service. Depending on your size and location other great apps include iOverlander, FreeRoam, & Boondocking. We rely on a handful of super helpful apps that we can use to find boondocking spots, Campendium, The Dyrt, and USFS & BLM CG App. ![]() The prints are not exposed to the temperature changes in the outside environment, so they’re not too susceptible to uneven cooling or cracking. Therefore, the temperature remains stable inside the build area. The good thing though is that the enclosed design of the printer creates a sealed and heated chamber, and it’s reinforced by an insulating foam lining around the front panel to prevent heat from escaping. However, while most prints we produced had no issues, some did fail to stick to the bed and resulted in a gooey mess. ![]() It’s not heated, but most prints had no issues sticking on the bed. The build plate itself is a thick ceramic glass that’s covered on top with a white plastic sheet. It offers plenty of room to create substantial prints of various shapes. The others measure 9.56w x 9.06h x 10.6d inches (Duo) and 7.89w x 9.06h x 10.6d inches (trio) respectively. It’s the largest build area amongst the three versions. ![]() The build area of the base model (single-extruder version) measures 11.2w x 9.06h x 10.6d inches. The quality is inconsistent though when using the fast resolution of 300 microns. However, printing is very slow at 70-micron resolution, but the quality and level of detail of the print are great. The printing speed is 15mm/s which is fast for small projects and higher resolution. All the dimensions and details seem to always come out almost perfectly, particularly when doing fairly large or simple designs like sloped-or-rounded-top prints.Ĭomplex projects or designs with large, flat-surface tops tend to have problems like over extruding, missing layers, imperfections, or bed-height issues, especially when at higher resolution settings. You get the best results with PLA filament than ABS. It produces prints that are of decent quality. The print head reaches maximum temperatures of 536☏ (280☌) and similar to the Cube 3D printer, it runs sideways (on X and Y axes) as the build plate moves up and down (along the Z-axis). The CubePro offers different extruder head options a single extruder head model that prints just using one color, a dual extruder model that prints using two colors, and a triple extruder model that prints three colors.Īll the extruders can print at resolutions of 70, 200, and 300 microns. It takes up quite a lot of space and it’s heavy too, weighing 90.7 pounds, so you might need help to carry it around. There are even see-through glass panels placed on the front and back of the printer that allows you to easily monitor the ongoing printing inside. Generally, this is a strong and rigid printer with great overall stability. The Z-axis frame is a thick metal plate too and there’s also a plastic plate placed over the electronics to help keep everything clean. The base plate is equally a solid 3/16 inch aluminum plate and it holds both the electronics and the frame in place. It’s sturdy and rigid – it keeps the machine steady during printing. The frame is a heavy-duty industrial-grade metal. The same applies to the hardware, which is of high quality – there’s no knock-off parts or any cost-saving omissions. The sleek white cuboid frame with rounded contours, plus the acrylic enclosure with transparent glass panels on the front part and the back makes it look elegant and professional.Įverything about it has been well thought out and optimized, from the intelligent component placement to the organized cable control systems and clean circuitry, you get an overall ordered feel both inside and outside the printer’s casing. Like most of the other 3D Systems’ printers, the CubePro has a simple but stylish design.

Not wanting to back up into a busy street I turned that van completely around without backing up the turn circle is so tight you need to be mindful of curves. Finally, I got stuck in a dead end street, about 2 lanes wide. Anyone considering one of these keep the commercial roots in mind any of the minivans or 3 row crossovers would be much better suited for comfort however, for an overall package, you can't beat the overall utility. MPG is impressive, getting about 25 overall on 87 octane, and have been running it the entire trip without issue. We hit the usual DC area rush hour traffic and the van made it much easier to navigate, much less stress. Once sorted acceleration is great cruise control is very responsive. Seem-less shifting if left alone however, use the paddles to downshift and the trans gets confused for a second, not sure if it needs to be in higher or lower gear. Powertrain is excellent much more useable power then expected. ![]() Otherwise, dated infotainment worked for my needs, and navigation got us where we needed.
